Low-Flying Trapeze

With Naomi Ullian

About This Workshop

The space between floor and bar—how does an acrobat navigate this strange half-gravity expanse? Join us for a weekend laboratory dedicated to orbiting, swinging, spinning, and innovating on that tiny ship called dance trapeze. Students will have the opportunity to learn technique arising from a variety of dance trapeze lineages as well as sequence and create work based in the strange vocabularies of liminal low flying.

About The Coach

Naomi Ullian is an acrobat, art maker, and herbalist living in southern Vermont. A 2016 graduate of the professional training programs at NECCA, Naomi co-founded the performance group BIG TEETH, with whom she has had the good fortune to practice collaborative theater-making since 2017, mostly dark comedy about social ecology. Having leaned heavily on creative activity as a balm for existential confusion for as long as she can remember, Naomi is very pleased to share the worlds of hand-balancing, trapeze, partner acrobatics, physical theater, and creative practice with her students.
